Memorial tree

In the orchard of the Ecological-Botanical Garden an apple tree was planted in honor of Dr. Sebastian Arnhold. Students and lecturers of the Master programme Global Change Ecology came together to commemorate a dedicated and inspiring tutor and colleague. Within the professorhip of Ecological Services he investigated the linkages between global markets and policies, local land use and management decisions, and their regional ecological consequences. He was one of the leading authors of the IPBES-report on "Land Degradation Processes“. Sebastian Arnhold died in November 2017 aged 35 years.
