Urban nitrogen oxide emissions underestimated
2017-05-31
Nitrogen oxide pollution is emerging as a primary environmental concern across Europe. In a recent study a team of scientists led by Prof. Thomas Karl, University of Innsbruck, and including the Atmospheric Chemistry group of the University of Bayreuth, reports simultaneous eddy covariance flux measurements of NOx, CO2, CO and non methane volatile organic in Innsbruck. The authors suggest an appreciable underestimation of the traffic related atmospheric NOx input in Europe.
