Improving the value of abandoned tropical farmlands
2014-11-27
Increasing demands for livelihood resources in tropical rural areas have led to progressive clearing of biodiverse natural forests. Restoration of abandoned farmlands could improve the ecological and socio-economic value and counter this process. This is shown by an international team of scientists (Nature Communications). The ongoing research in the tropical Andes of Ecuador was initiated by Prof. Erwin Beck, senior author in the study.
